PCR commercials are agreed and work continues on existing and new requirements. We draw closer to a cut-off point where no new requirements or changes will be considered. We have some difficulty keeping ahead of the plan with our IDOC mappings in Biztalk and seek expert advice to keep this on track.

Report and Output development is on track. Training continues and intensifies on the FI side as we ramp up for go-live. The production system begins to be commissioned.

Our internet order progresses at the speed of BT!

The PCR commercials continue and are yet to be resolved. In addition we are still identifying changes as we test existing PCR’s. This becomes a concern and we discuss whether we should now allocate some of these changes to post go-live. Unless they effect the anticipated go-live dates we will continue to develop them.

The vehicle tracking project goes live despite our internet problems. We are under lead time to increase the connection speed so we dual run the existing system so that the staff may become familiar with the environment but keeping track of all changes should the system become unusable.

The PCR commercials continue and are yet to be resolved.

A detailed FI training plan shows concerns around the fact that staff are very busy with their day to day duties and not being back filled during training time. We work hard to address this as training is critical with the FI go-live just 8 or so weeks away.

Negotiations around the changes list continues and we work hard to identify those that are a necessity. FI is confirmed as the first go-live in order to coincide with the year end and our go-live strategy can accommodate this approach. We have a problem with our vehicle tracking project in that our internet connection is causing problems when heavily used. BT are involved in helping us resolve this. The issue list now becomes the focus of attention post realisation and the go-live strategy is to be discussed regularly until all parties are completely comfortable.

Vehicle tracking training is complete. We identify the need for small departmental restructuring necessary to accommodate the complete change in working practice. It is a big change from the paper driven manual processes that exist now. We work hard to identify the PCR list and documenting the list of system changes needed to adopt our go-live strategy. We continue to discuss the go-live “order”, ie. which warehouses/customers will go first in our phased approach. FI continues to raise discussion and with the change in go-live there is a possibility that the year end (June) would be a more ideal time.

After a busy week reengineering the plan we agree a way forward.
We have a new go-live date.
One of the major drivers for this is that many of our customers need extra time to prepare their systems to accommodate the changes that we now require – predominantly the RF requirement for barcodes. Also, we have a significant amount of work to complete all our required reports and with the delay in recruitment it also pushes the estimated completion time back further than our original plan. In order to facilitate expected staff holidays we push the date accordingly so that the majority of them can be taken before the go-live date. The vehicle tracking project continues and training should be complete next week.

We have a considerable amount of outstanding development of which most is changes identified during the realisation phase. I rearrange the plan to incorporate this and it suggests the go-live date is under review. We have to realign the testing/training and QA build to reflect a sensible date in line with the end of all developments and configuration. I am working hard with the board to establish a new plan.
The vehicle tracking project continues and is affecting the SAP implementation due to internal resource requirements so we look for support in this area. Our partner also experiences unforeseen resource issues which we work together to overcome as best we can.
The internal ABAP team continue to progress the necessary reports which are reviewed individually for their priority and indeed their relevance post SAP.

After a busy Christmas for the business the New Year refocuses attention to the project.The team have taken the opportunity to take their annual leave so we start where we left off.
Over the last couple of weeks we have identified a list of outstanding requirements which will add time to the realisation phase of the project. I am working hard to make sure this does not impact go-live, but our strategy will dictate this.We organise some more training for our new ABAP team so that they may contribute further to our report requirements.
