This week sees the start of the workshops which are organized into SAP module topics for structure. All project team members are present though as there is inevitable overlap of knowledge across the business – and obviously the way the business is structured at the moment does not map one-to-one to the SAP environment. We hope we can adapt slightly to accommodate a SAP best practice approach.

SAP
- Go-Live April 2011 (projected April 2011)
- Testing ready September 2010 (projected 2010)
- Advised holidays over Christmas are OK, so I would like to semi-encourage this to suit us
- Project Team have access to Demo system
- Workshops are progressing nicely

Biztalk
- Initial Plan added to master – dates will change
- Go-Live April 2011 (projected 2011)
- Testing ready October 2010 (projected October 2010)
- DR strategy agreed
- As work progresses we are seeing some project creep due to new requirements
- Work In Progress – Split to accommodate Carolyn Training

Optimisation
- Go-Live August 2010 (projected August 2010)
- Awaiting project plan
- Attending workshops next week
- Contacts Agreed – Sorting Requirement Dates
- Kick-Off Meeting post workshops

The kick-off meeting provided the project team with a detailed introduction to the project plan and facilitated an interesting Q&A session that allayed some fears amongst the team – common when embarking on the unknown.

SAP
-          Gave go-live scenario to team for ideas
-          Go-Live April 2011 (projected April 2011)
-          Testing ready September 2010 (projected 2010)
-          Mapping to be completed during/after workshops to aid testing plan

Biztalk
-          Axapta integration decision pending (go-live August 2010 if done)
-          Requirements Week completed – Plan/Quote next week
-          Initial Plan added to master – dates will change (to accommodate us)
-          Work Order signed and work has begun
-          Go-Live April 2011 (projected 2011)
-          Testing ready October 2010 (projected October 2010)

Friday 16th July 2010 

I have changed the layout of the blog update to separate each implementation so you can see the status of each at a glance. 

There is a buzz around the company at the moment and plenty of Chinese whispers. We, as a team, concentrate on how we communicate with the rest of the business to keep everyone informed. Hopefully this will keep news positive and accurate. 

Progress 

-          IDES installed ready for IT to start training
-          Optimisation site visit completed
-          Initial kick-off meeting with KPOs completed
-          Workshop matrix completed and dates confirmed
-          RF steps added to plan 

SAP
-          Kick-Off Meeting – 10am start – All directors present
-          Consultants will briefly meet project team the same day
-          Go-Live April 2011 (projected April 2011)
-          Testing ready September 2010 (projected 2010)
-          Mapping to be completed during/after workshops to aid testing plan

As all internal efforts are concentrated on mapping our current processes, I concentrate on preparing the strategy for implementing the 3rd party tools both pre and post SAP implementation.

1.       JB to attend Optimisation supplier visit to confirm Axapta integration.

2.       JB to install IDES

3.       Directors still to confirm attendance for their staff at the workshops & playback dates.

4.       RF supplier confirmed – Project Plan has been requested by JB

As the workshops approach I try to concentrate on getting the guys to prepare thoroughly whilst at the same time spending some time on the 3rd party products.

  1. Review of integration effort between 3rd party optimisation and 3rd party vehicle tracking to be completed.
  2. Optimisation to Axapta integration to be confirmed.
  3. DEV installation completed and remote available.
  4. Directors to confirm attendance for their staff at the workshops, and the playback dates.
  5. Directors to put pressure on 3rd party suppliers to arrange meetings.

I have started a rough plan with addition of the 3rd party projects. I have added sensible constraints as a guide.
